Game Boy Advance To Be Around For ONE MORE Year

Snid | News, Gameboys, Video Games | Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Nintendo of America’s head president Reggie Fils-Aime said it himself. The precious Game Boy Advance will be around for one more holiday season till it’s done with itself. Reggie says..

“We think that Game Boy Advance certainly has at least one more holiday season left in it. For us, it continues to be a great stepping stone for five-, six-, seven-year-old consumers to have their first great handheld gaming experience and then transition right into DS.”

Looks like the Game Boy Advance from then on will be a prep system for people ready to have/use a DS. I sure hope they make a new type of Game Boy even if we’re in the DS/DS Lite era.

Holiday Shopping Guide- Part one

zenywolf | News, Console, XBOX 360, Reviews, Video Games | Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

So folks, wondering what to buy for your friends? Well then, let me help YOU! To kick off my guides, here’s a list of things you’ll want to buy for your closest pals.

To begin, what console does your friend own? Does he or she own a Wii? An Xbox360? Or even the ultra-rare PS3? Or perhaps he or she is more of a handheld or PC gamer? Well, here’s a list of games that you must buy for all those Xbox360 gamers! I’ve boiled it down to three games that they need to have:

1) Gears Of War:

This first person action-adventure is a MUST HAVE for the XBOX gamer. Not only does it have some of the most beautiful graphics I’ve ever seen, but it also has action-packed multi-player and single player modes. Trust me folks, this game will hold you until Halo 3.

Next on your list is:

2) Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Sure, this one may be multi-platform but the best version of it is on the 360. Insane graphics, fun multi-player, dramatic and powerful story and dialouge - what’s not to love about this game? This game will keep you not only entertained, but keep you on the edge of your seat! You don’t want to miss this one!

And, last but not least, :

3) Sonic The Hedgehog

Before I begin, this game is only for the Sonic fans. This game failed to impress most major media, but I, as well as many fans of Sonic found it very refreshing. Even if this game was disliked by many, your Sonic -loving friend will adore you for buying it for he or she. Trust me, if not, well….sorry!

Well folks, I’ll see you next time with what games you should get for your Nintendo friend!

Imposters shutting Dark_Alex down?

Mike | News, HandHelds, PSP, Video Games | Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Imposter

This is indeed a dark time for the PSP homebrew age. (pun totally intended) Dark_Alex has poured a lifes worth of work into hacking the PSP for homebrewers however now Dark_Alex is considering resigning. For real.

First of all there’s the imposter sites. A person, by the online nick of dark-alex.com has set up a site at dark-alex.com. He claimed to be Dark_Alex and as people rushed onto the site they were faced with a site that looked exactly the same as his real site. They downloaded programs onto their PSP’s to find their PSP’s bricked. It was a total imposter and that SOB has made Dark_Alex feel insecure.

don’t feel secure anymore in the net. I don’t feel my computer secure.
Because of this, I’m considering to stop any psp development.”

Dark_Alex has other problems to deal with too in his life and this is just putting the nail in the coffin.

Here’s the entire quote from Alex’s site:

Tired, tired and tired. I was already tired in my personal life, and i’m now getting tired of my “virtual” life too.I’ve lost two family members this year because of cancer, one of them last week, and the LAST THING my family need are legal problems because of the confussion generated by that son of a bitch of dark-alex.com.
PSP programming and reverse engineering used to be fun. It was a hobby that distracted my mind of the darkness of life,
it was funny to understand the code of an operating system made by a big company.
But lammers attacking me and using my name to commit CRIMINAL ACTS in the worst moment of my life,
is far from my idea of funny.

I don’t feel secure anymore in the net. I don’t feel my computer secure.
Because of this, I’m considering to stop any psp development.

These imposters are not cool. Dark_Alex, we wish you luck and we wish you well.

Dude, 7500 Wii Points included w/ Classic Controller?!

Snid | News, Console, Wii, Video Games | Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I don’t know if this is fake or real. This makes me feel glad my low rate GameStop didn’t have any Classic Controllers w/ Wii Points to sell. I want to look out for these if they’re real..!

These were found streaming the Nintendo Forums somewhere.

I want these.

Update: Apparently these were only given to GameStop/EB Games Managers as a Christmas present from Nintendo of America. Bummer. Check ebay, and maybe you’ll have some luck..soon.

Wii Sells 600k Units Already Along w/ Awards!

Snid | News, Console, Wii, Video Games | Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

As far as I can see, Nintendo is going to have a very nice holiday time. You know why? The Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS (& Lite) have raised their stocks into the century (or probably for the next 5 years). You’ve all known the success with DS. But, Wii is on the same track. Selling more than 600k units already in two weeks, and it’s not even launched in Japan yet. With Canada being completely sold out, and yet to be the United States, you know this thing won’t fail you.

The Wii (unsurprisingly) won a lot of awards and publicity with the Wall Street Journal for one, being featured in TIME Magazine, LIFE Magazine, and many more all this before the TV Commercials. And the Wii just won the POPSCI Grand Award recently. Nice quite kind of a quote from them too..

“Remember when video games were fun? When the controllers had only a couple buttons and you didn’t have to spend an hour learning the seven-step finger dance for “walk?â€? Nintendo does, so it took a step back, looked at its superpowered competitors, and took a totally different path with its new console, Wii. […] In Wii Tennis, swing your hand just as you would a racket. In Excite Truck, hold both ends of the controller as if it were a steering wheel. And look out for that tree, because, photo-real or not, these games will draw you in. $250″

The Wii WILL DEFINETALLY go even further than this..without one single doubt.

Hack this site for a PS3?

Mike | News, Console, Ps3, Video Games | Sunday, November 26th, 2006

Free PS3

Seriously look. Free PS3 to any hacker that can replace one image on this site.

http://ps3.shimpinomori.net/index_en.html

See, I wasn’t kidding you. You get the PS3, the HDMI cable, new HDD and Resistance: Fall of Man.

Now, personally, I don’t have the skill to hack that site. Nor am I even going to try to hack that site however it seems pretty interesting. I wonder if the guy just wants to see if the site can be hacked, or if he’s so confident it can’t be hacked that he just put the site up for publicity.

Cool idea either way.

DevHook’s Booster is back?

Mike | News, HandHelds, PSP, Video Games | Saturday, November 25th, 2006

DevHookBooster is a name commonly associated with DevHook. With the exciting release of a dumper/decrypter for 3.0 and 3.01 we have more exciting news.

Booster is back! Well, maybe. No one can quite confirm this. However on the MaxConsole forums a member claims that Booster is back with the PSP, which is where I say he belongs.

Here’s the message that was given on the forums:

“Just for the people not to worry, Booster has now resumed his work on the psp (especially devhook) after several months of inactivity due to beeing working on another console’s scene (I am not sure I can name it so I wont).

I am sorry, for now I cannot give any ETA current devhook betas, still be sure to know serious improvements were done.”

There’s no confirmation to absolutely render this rumour true however it seems promising to me. Let’s all hope DevHook and Booster will be back.

For now, let’s sit on the hints we’ve heard from Dark_Alex on the 2.80 DevHook Beta. If this isn’t just a rumour, then we have a miracle on our hands.

Wii Sports Review.

Wii Sports
Nintendo shook the gaming community when it first revealed It’s new console, the Wii and its motion sensing abilities. With What I thought to be Tech demos, Nintendo created a good Solid title that is a pack in with the system, Wii Sports. Wii sports is a collection of sports games that show off what the Wii can do. It contains the sports, Boxing, Tennis, Bowling, Golf and last but not least, Baseball. The games are good, fun and do exactly what Nintendo plans to do with the Wii, draw casual gamers to the fold. Here are my impressions of the games.
