Wii Are The Champions, My Friend

Darren | News, Console, Wii, Video Games | Saturday, December 30th, 2006

operadel.jpgWell, it looks as if the Wii has done it again. We have conformation from Nintendo that the Opera Browser will indeed support Flash software. Why would this be of any information to you? Well, many websites use Flash Software for movies, games, and other cool stuff you may miss out on! Thus making the Wii a whole lot shiny-er in our hearts.

In some unrelated Wii news:

Wii Sports II?

wii-sportsdel.jpg

Another Wii Sports? Could It Be True? Maybe, as this game is:

“Said to include varied sports like tennis, hockey, volleyball, swimming and horse riding it’s supposedly full of new and revised gameplay features. Most interestingly, the rumor also claims it will have online play so you can face off against other sports fans.”   Quote From:  wiisworld.com.

Wii Sports II seems to be coming a little fast, however, I wouldn’t mind one. Let’s all hope this rumor is bound to be true!

 VivaPinataBox

As all XBOX 360 Owners probably have seen, the new game ‘Viva Pinata’ Makes for a completly non-sense yet halarious gaming. The story plot is that you own a pinata garden, and plant grass and other stuff. As you go along, you get more and more pinatas in your garden. They have completly nonsense names too, such as mousemallow (Mouse). Yes, the bigger pinatas will eat and kill the smaller pinatas. When the pinatas die, candy will spill out and people from nowhere will cheer. Then the other, cannibal pinata will eat the candy. Sick, Eh? So, for all you XBOX 360 owners, go get Viva Pinata NOW!

XBOX 360 Tries To Tie In Buyers With New Extended Warranty

Darren | News, Console, XBOX 360, Video Games | Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

XBOX 360

Microsoft, maker of the all new, and completely awesome XBOX 360, is now offering a extended warrenty. From the original 90 days, Microsoft has brought that up to a full year.

So what does this mean to you? Well, if you were considering buying the XBOX 360 anytime soon, expect a tad bit more demand. For the owners of the XBOX 360, this warranty applies to you, too. 1 year from the date of purchase, you may still use your warrenty. But don’t worry about a shortage of XBOX 360s, plenty of them are in stores, unlike the Wii and PS3 gaming systems.

Quiter, cooler processor in the 360’s near future

Mike | News, Console, XBOX 360, Video Games | Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

360's old processor

In 2007 any 360’s created will likely hold a new processor, that is smaller, cooler and for that reason will make the 360 a little quieter. (Less heat and less electricity=quieter). However it will be just as powerful, since size doesn’t matter here. :P The company in Singapore that manufactures the current 90 nm chip has a new design for a 65nm processor.

However we have to remember that this doesn’t mean that all systems SOLD in 2007 have the new processor. There’s still the stocks in the stores and distributors. There might even be stocks of the older processors that Microsoft will use in 360’s until those are gone. Hopefully there will be an easy way to distinguish between the untis with old processors and new processors. Until someone finds out a way you’ll have to cross your fingers and hope.

Until then we can cook our bacon and eggs on the 360 while it preheats our oven.

Edit: Newer information about this confirms a delay that XBOX 360’s will NOT have the new chip in them  by 2007 but mid-2007. I guess you could call this dream-breaking news.

Tabbed Browsing on the Wii

Mike | News, Console, Wii, Video Games | Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Tabs on the Wii

Check out this website. Someone by the online name Histoplasmosis gave out the link to a website which will set up some tabs for you.

Simply visit this page on your Wii:
http://team-dsx.net/ds/basic.php

A tab should pop up in your browser. Click the image on the left to open a new tab if you want to open a new tab. Simple as that. Definatly worth writing down and favouriting later.

YouTube blocking the Wii?

Mike | News, Console, Wii, Video Games | Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Youtube not for the Wii?

The Wii used to be able to access Youtube and watch videos when the Opera broswer was first released. However a day later people began to experience problems and trouble watching movies.

We now have confirmation from Opera that Youtube must be blocking something on their end.

Opera says:

The Opera browser on Wii does support playback of movies on Youtube. Youtube seems to have broken something tonight, however, blocking Wii users. We will investigate and contact them about it.

Some people are able to access Youtube, but have tons of problems with it. Others report that they are just completely unable to watch videos or do much of anything at all on Youtube.

I’m not sure what Youtube did though. I think we might just have to wait it out on this one.

Final Holiday Guide

zenywolf | News, Console, Wii, Ps3, Reviews, Video Games | Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Click Here for Part One of the Holiday Shopping Guide

Well folks, Christmas is among us in a a few more days, and well, I’m sure a bunch of you would just hate to not be able to give anything, yes? Or, for you greedy types, you can print out this guide and leave it on the table for Santa to see.

So, without further ado, I’d like to give you the final holiday guide.

For the Sony gamer:

1) Resistance: Fall Of Man for the PS3:
What is there to say about this perfectly beautiful game? Well, a lot actually. Not only does this game feature some beautiful graphics and outrageously fun game play, but it has a hectic online multi-player mode as well! It can have up to 40+ players at once! Sweet chaos!

Resistance Fall of Man Box

2) Loco Roco for the PSP:

This, has got to be the most addictive PSP title out to date. It’s one of the few reasons to actually own a PSP. It has a tilt-n’-tumble style element. It’s game play is fast paced and bright! While it isn’t the deepest game, it’s perfect for bite sized gaming blocks!

LocoRoco

3) Guitar Hero II for the PS2:

The sequel to the cult-favorite Guitar Hero, this installment will not fail you! The game is a DDR-esque rythem game that takes full use of the included guitar-shaped controller. The game is a bit heavy on price, but this game is worth twice as much for each penny.

Guitar Hero

So, we’ve covered Sony (and, in a previous article Microsoft) So now what? Well Nintendo of course What games shall you buy for Christmas?

1) The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii/GC

Hyrule will be covered in a void of endless twilight…unless Link has anything to say about it! This is possibly THE BEST Legend Of Zelda game to date. With gorgeous graphics, outstanding story line, and awesome game play, this game is a MUST HAVE for any Nintendo fan. Wii version is highly recommended.

Twighlight Princess

2) Jump Ultimate Stars for the DS:

Last year, Nintendo, Gambrion, and Shonen Jump teamed up to make a little game called Jump Super Stars. This game featured many of Japan’s most beloved manga heros and villans. Jump Super Stars single handedly gave a whole new meaning to the hand held fighting genre. Fast foward to modern day today…Jump Ultimate Stars is the sequel to thus great game. It’s import only, and it’ll cost you somewhere around $48-59 depending on where you buy it. The language barrier isn’t very thick, it’s a fighting game so you’ll be able to get through it. Oh, and did I mention this is the closest anyone is going to get to a portable Smash Brothers? That’s right, it has four way fighting and wifi!

3) Red Steel for the Wii:

Even though Red Steel doesn’t live up to the hype it created, it’s still a pretty darn fun Wii game. The story and single player action are enough to make you want to give this game to someone. Of course, you should probably be careful if this person happens to be a multi player fanatic, because the multi player is trash. In this game, you are Scott, the body guard and boyfriend of Miyu, who is the daughter of a Yakuza leader names Sato. The daughter gets kidnapped and it’s up to Scott to shoot and cut his way through the six Yakuza clans and rescue her!

Ho ho ho! Well that about covers it! We at Gamesoul wish you happy holidays and a great New Year! Have fun!

So wait, it’s not a “recall”?

Mike | News, Console, Wii, Video Games, Industry News | Monday, December 18th, 2006

WiimoteFlying

Every corner of the media has now probably in some way reported on the Wiistrap “recall”. However, once again as it may seem, the media is wrong. It’s better described as a “voluntary exchange” or “upgrade”. Nintendo reports that there is no recall. There is no problem with the Wiimote straps. Nintendo says the only reason the straps have been breaking is due to overly excited players have been going a little overboard. The Wiistraps are no failing…some of your minds are :P

Here’s the official quote from Nintendo:

Nintendo is not recalling any of the Wii wrist straps for its motion sensitive Wii Remote. There is no problem with the existing wrist strap as long as the Wii Remote is used sensibly and properly in accordance with the guidelines provided by Nintendo. All parts of the wrist strap have passed product testing and quality control.

The following tips are advised for safe play:

Always wear the wrist strap while playing.Keep a firm grip on the Wii Remote at all times. Make sure people and objects are out of the range of movement before play begins. Players should keep at least three feet/ one meter from their televisions and dry their hands if they become sweaty or wet for any other reason.

Remember that the Wii Remote is responsive enough to detect minor movements – so excessive and forceful actions are not necessary. Therefore we recommend not to use excessively rapid, violent or wide swinging motions while using the Wii Remote during game play.

Consumers who break their wrist straps through excess usage or who are worried about their wrist strap should contact their nearest Nintendo Service Center voluntary exchange programme has been provided where consumers can replace wrist straps free of charge upon request.

So uh. Play safe kids(and adults). Maybe for once we should all actually read those safety precautions.

Once again, you may order a new Wiistrap here
